Haimen, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, held a promotional event in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, from Nov 11 to 15.

Fourteen project deals with more than 15 billion yuan ($2.14 billion) in investment were signed at a promotional conference for the city's business environment and new-generation information technology industry on Nov 12.

The conference was attended by more than 150 government officials and business leaders, who were briefed on Haimen's development and preferential policies through a series of videos and presentations.

"Haimen has changed drastically since reform and opening-up began in 1978," said Chen Yong, Party secretary of the city.

According to Chen, the city's gross regional product reached 124.9 billion yuan in 2018. It ranked 20th among the nation's top 100 counties in terms of comprehensive strength in 2019.

The county has three pillar industries – modern construction, home textiles, and advanced equipment manufacturing – each bringing in more than 100 billion yuan annually.

Chen said Shenzhen is leading the country in the development of new-generation information technology, while Haimen has laid a solid foundation for the development of the industry.

"There is ample room for cooperation between the two cities in 5G communications, intelligent equipment, big data, cloud computing, and integrated circuits," Chen added.
