A ceremony marking the start of construction on 34 projects was held in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone on Oct 30.

The projects received a total of 20.02 billion yuan ($2.85 billion) in investment and are expected to generate more than 25 billion yuan in total output when at full capacity.

Thirteen of the projects are involved in the intelligent manufacturing industry, four are involved in the new-generation information technology sector, 11 are technological commercialization projects, and the rest involve textiles, plastic, and medicine.

The new projects are essential to driving innovative development within the zone, officials said.

In recent years, the zone has been striving to attract investment in high-end industries and improve services for investors.
