Chongchuan promotes traditional skills

A palm fiber weaving activity was held in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province on Oct 30.

Palm fiber weaving is a traditional art form dating back over 1,000 years. It has been listed as a Nantong municipal intangible cultural heritage.

Ma Yihua, a 51-year-old craftswoman, has been weaving palm fiber since she was a young girl and she and her husband taught others how to do so during the activity.

The activity was meant to promote traditional forms of art.
