Construction began on a center for environmentally friendly filter materials and smart filter equipment in the Su-Tong Science and Technology Park in Nantong on Oct 24.

The center is funded by Sun-Central (China) Marketing and Service Co, a famous fluid filtration enterprise, and its registered capital is 200 million yuan ($28.27 million). It will cover an area of about 50 mu (3.33 hectares).

The center will research, produce, and sell environmentally friendly filter materials and smart filter equipment, and will also engage in filtration and separation engineering.

Fluid filtration and separation technology is essential to the treatment of drinking water, sewage, and air pollution. The technology is also widely applied in a number of industries, including automobiles, food processing, petroleum and gas, mining, and medicine.

According to an employee at the park, the new center will help promote the development of an environmental protection industry and improve the park.
