China Nature Education Forum kicks off in Chongchuan
The 2019 China Nature Education Forum was held at the Nantong International Convention and Exhibition Center in Chongchuan district on Oct 20. It was attended by more than 100 experts.
The event is part of the 2019 China Forest Tour Festival and is the third national academic forum to take place in Nantong.
"Nantong is a beautiful city and has some unique features, such as its rivers and plains. I believe that the city will improve as an important city along the Yangtze River Economic Belt," said Zhang Baiping, a researcher at the Institute of Geographic Science and Natural Resources Research and vice-chairman of the China Association for Scientific Expedition.
Zhang Yujun, a professor at Beijing Forestry University, said that the Nantong government has done a good job protecting the environment. He expressed hope that the city's natural environment would improve in the future.
Nantong was listed as a "national forest city" in 2018 and a "national afforestation model city" in 2019. The city has built 10 provincial environmental conservation areas and 31 sites for popularizing science and promoting environmental education.
