An exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Geyi Art Gallery was held at Nantong Museum in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, on Oct 9.

More than 100 collections from the gallery, including paintings and calligraphy works created during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, went on display.

Nantong is home to 23 officially registered museums which hold regular and diverse exhibitions and cultural activities.

During the National Day holiday on Oct 1-7, a total of 33 exhibitions and activities were organized with more than 200,000 people taking part.

Most of the events were meant to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, officials said.

They included exhibitions of paintings and calligraphy works and purple clay teapots.
