The direct train from Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, to Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province will begin operating in the near future. It will take three hours and 21 minutes at the quickest to travel from Nanjing to Qidong.

In May 2016, the first phase of the Nanjing-Qidong Railway from Nanjing to downtown Nantong was opened, and the second phase from Nantong to Qidong was opened in Jan 2019. 

The entire Nanjing-Qidong Rail line will be open to traffic after an adjustment to the railways in the Yangtze River Delta region on Oct 11. 7.5 pairs of CR200J Fuxing Bullet trains will be put into operation, bringing the total number of trains along the line up to 41.5 pairs.

The CR200J Fuxing bullet train consists of nine sections, including one front cab, six carriages of second-class seats, one dining carriage, and one carriage of first-class seats. The train can carry 720 passengers and reach speeds of 160 kilometer per hour.

The train tickets have been on sale since Oct 3, with the ticket price for second-class seats fixed at 113 yuan ($15.86).
