A concert to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding to the People’s Republic of China concluded with great success in Siena, Italy, on Sept 29, according to the organizers.

The event was hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Firenze and the Siena government, with more than 200 Chinese and Italian people taking part.

During the concert, Wu Rong, deputy director of the art school of Nantong University, Guglielmo Pianigiani from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Music, Beatrice Fanetti from the Music Institute of Siena and leading Chinese singers performed a selection of Chinese and Italian classics.

Nantong established a partnership with Siena in 2015 and the two cities have made significant achievements through their cooperation in commerce, culture and sports, officials said.

The two sides have agreed to get closer to each other as sister cities and the application is waiting for official approval, officials added.
