Nantong, a city in Jiangsu province, launched a special Jiangsu T-Union card in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China on Sept 29, according to local media reports.

The transportation card, in the color red, prominently displays the number 70.

A total of 10,000 cards will be issued, officials said.

The card’s functions and preferential policies are consistent with the Jiangsu T-Union cards currently on sale.

It can be used to pay fees for public transportation including buses, subways, ferries and some intercity railways in 252 prefecture-level cities across the country. Discounts will be given for bus rides in Nantong city.

The cards can be purchased online and offline. Online purchases can be made on the Changxing Nantong app and the official WeChat account of Nantong Citizen Card. In addition, residents can buy the cards at recharge stands for the Nantong Citizen Card in Nantong city.

The price of a themed card set that is purchased online is 70 yuan ($9.82) – 15 yuan for the card fee and 40 yuan can be used to pay for public transportation fares.

The price for a set purchased offline is 70 yuan as well, with 15 yuan for the card fee and 55 yuan to be used to pay for public transportation fares.
