Qidong foodies excited as fishing season kicks off

Fishermen in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong in East China’s Jiangsu province, took to their boats and headed out to sea in excitement on Sept 16 – when the fishing season kicked off after, after more than four months waiting on shore.

Locals were also ecstatic at the news. 

Officials said that they’ll get their first taste of the fresh seafood a week later when the first catch is brought in. 

The varieties of fish to be caught will include butterfish, hairtails and little yellow croakers, according to Cui Linhua, director of a fishery services institute.
