A wall mural showing the glorious scenery along the Haohe River is seen on Hongxing Road in downtown Nantong in eastern Jiangsu province, on Sept 11.

The mural is two meters high and 26 m long, depicting a number of landmarks along the river, including Nantong Museum, the Guangxiao Pogoda and Nantong TV Tower.

“Haohe is considered by Nantong locals as the mother river,” said Chen Gong, head of the painting team.

“That’s why the painting starts with a woman and the river flows as her hair,” Chen explained.

The painting is part of a series of murals themed on “Hello Nantong” authorized by the Communist Youth League Committee of Chongchuan district.

The project was launched in Aug 2018 and previous works can be seen outside the city’s intermediate court, the Nantong Hotel and Zilang Hospital, said Chen.

The latest mural also promotes garbage recycling and sorting -- aiming to raise people’s awareness of protecting the environment along the Haohe River, Chen added.
