Construction of some 19 projects with a total investment of 6.44 billion yuan ($913 million) have kicked off at XiTong Science &Technology Industrial Park in Tongzhou, Nantong, according to officials.

Tongzhou government has been making efforts to channel investments to local industries since the beginning of 2019. Officials said it had successfully attracted six new projects to the region in the second quarter of this year. 

Jiangsu Houbang Industrial Co Ltd, one of the major projects introduced to Tongzhou, is a provincial-level project with an investment of 1 billion yuan ($141.77 million). 

Its new production plant is expected to produce 120,000 tons of medical PVC materials and 100,000 tons of medical pellet products annually, when the project starts operations in August 2020. 

“Despite the tight schedule, we have still adjusted the working hours for our builders to escape the summer heat. Safety is always the first priority, ” said Zhu Junzheng, who is in charge of the construction site. 

With construction of the projects now in full swing, the management committee of the XiTong Science &Technology Industrial Park is also offering the project teams comprehensive services in the form of water and power supplies and support infrastructure.

“We have been backed up by the management committee at every step of the building process. It was wise to settle the project in the park,” said Wang Xiaotao, vice general manager of Jiangsu Yizhe Hydraulic Equipment Co Ltd, another new project in XiTong Industrial Park. 

XiTong Science &Technology Industrial Park was established in 2011 and listed among provincial-level science and technology industrial parks in Jiangsu province in 2014. It currently has attracted more than 30 companies to locate there, with a total investment of 12 billion yuan.
