Updated: 2019-08-08

Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone and Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Trading Center signed a strategic business agreement in Shanghai on Aug 5.

The two sides will give full play to their resources to promote LNG trade and transactions, logistics distribution, price information analysis and the construction of reserve facilities, in an attempt to serve the national energy strategy and help boost the regional integration development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone is located in Rudong county, Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, on the north wing of the core area of the Yangtze River Delta region.

It is a national-level open port zone mainly handling energy imports and downstream petroleum products.

In 2018, it handled 6.35 million tons of LNG, ranking it first among all the LNG import ports in China.

Embracing the period of strategic opportunities presented by China's energy transformation, Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone, with its unique resource conditions, is making every effort to build a clean energy industry with LNG as its mainstay, said Shen Junfeng, Party secretary of Rudong county.

Shen expressed his hopes that the cooperation between the zone and Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Trading Center – a national-level energy trade platform -- would boost promotion of the zone’s brand, its industrial upgrading and expanding, and promote regional economic cooperation.

Ye Guobiao, chairman of Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Trading Center, echoed Shen’s proposals and added that the agreement was expected to help achieve resource sharing and mutual benefits.

Cai Dong, Party secretary of the Rudong Yangkou Economic Development Zone and Wang Liansheng, vice manager of Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Trading Center, signed a cooperation agreement on August 5.
