A special gala for China’s 92nd Army Day took place in Baihuayuan community, Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, on July 30.

A troupe formed by the wives of local soldiers gave some stunning performances, while veterans shared their experiences on the battlefield during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953).

Such a gala has been held every year since 2001 and it has become a benchmark of the community.

The community is home to many veterans and their families, and a strong military culture has developed in the area.

It has set up a fund to help people in need, a volunteer group to ensure local public safety, and an art troupe to entertain locals.

A number of children’s activities have also been held, including listening to veterans’ stories and painting the national flag and emblem.
