Qidong delegation seeks for trade opportunities in US and Japan

A delegation from the government of Qidong, the city in Nantong in eastern Jiangsu province, visited the United States and Japan to negotiate on trade on July 2-9.
The official delegation was led by Wang Xiaobin, Party secretary of the county-level city, and She Dehua, vice-mayor of Qidong.
During their stay in the two countries, the trade delegation staged road shows to promote the favorable investment environment in the city, visited some of the local companies that have traded with Qidong’s firms, and struck preliminary deals with some of them.
In the US, Qidong’s representatives visited the BayHelix Group, the Chinese Bioscience Association, the Springbank Airport Business and Pilots Association and the US-based Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce.
Qidong officials said the road shows were staged to help foreign companies better understand the favorable investment policies in their metropolis.
Sun Lin, head of the North California division of BayHelix Group, said that Qidong is adjacent to Shanghai and is a perfect place for developing projects in the health sector.
“We will team up with other chambers of commerce to strengthen trade with Qidong,” said Cai Chenghua, president of the US-based Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce, during the meeting.
When the trade delegation arrived in Japan it took part in the 2019 China Qidong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference in the capital, Tokyo.
Nearly 100 representatives from Japanese banks and industry attended the event.
Wang gave a keynote speech, in which he outlined the general conditions of Qidong and its investment policies.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, general manager of Hitachi Metals San Huan Magnetic Materials (Nantong) Co Ltd, swapped notes with the attendees on the services provided by the government of Qidong for Japanese companies that choose to invest in the city.
After the conference, Wang led the trade delegation to the headquarters of Hitachi Metals. He pledged to support the development of the Qidong division of Hitachi Metals, and expressed his hope that the Japanese group would help promote Qidong’s profile.
