A promotional conference for Nantong’s new generation of information technology industry was held in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong province, on July 8. 

The event consisted of five parts themed on Nantong Central Innovation District, Nantong hi-tech industrial development zone, Gangzha district, Qidong economic development zone and Rugao hi-tech industrial development zone, respectively.

Nantong government officials and business leaders from more than 200 companies in the Pearl River Delta region participated in the event.

Xu Huimin, mayor of Nantong, delivered a speech at the conference, briefing the attendees on Nantong’s current state of development. 

As a key part of the Shanghai metropolitan area, Nantong has been included in a plan for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, Xu said.

He added that the city has grasped the opportunities for development and has been making significant efforts to improve its transport network, innovation capability, business environment and supporting policies.

As a national electronic technology manufacturing base, the city is forming an industrial chain of integrated circuit, covering design, manufacturing, sealing, equipment and materials.

Xu expressed his hope that more Shenzhen-based companies would take Nantong as a primary choice to expand their businesses and achieve mutual benefits.

A total of 24 projects were signed during the conference, covering a wide range of industries, including cold chain logistics, autonomous production equipment, VR technology and R&D of automobile parts.
