Nantong has started to offer free pneumonia vaccinations for its residents aged between 65 and 85 since this month, according to an announcement at a news conference of the city’s health commission on July 4.

With the aim of helping to reduce the incidence of streptococcus pneumonia among the elderly, the health program caters for permanent residents of the city, specifically those in Chongchuan, Gangzha, Tongzhou districts, as well as the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area and the Tongzhou Bay demonstration zone.

Shots are available at local community health service centers from July to November.

People who plan to receive the vaccine should ensure that they are in good health and register at the centers.
