The timeless elegance of tai chi was celebrated, when a group of students from the sports science school in Nantong University provided lessons and physical exercises in the martial art at Zilang Lake in Nantong, in eastern Jiangsu province, on June 30.

The activity was part of the school’s social practice program for the summer vocation, which  also aimed to welcome the upcoming 2019 China Forest Tour Festival that will open in October.

Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese martial art, has become a popular sport among the locals, said Wu Yingying, head of the group.

It has not only benefited middle-aged and older people, but also attracted the interest of younger people, she added.

According to the organizers, the youngest participant attending the activity that day was only 3 years old.

According to Wu, she and her peers will give professional instructions on physical exercises, body building and weight loss to the locals during the summer vocation.
