A liquefied natural gas (LNG) container ship from Peru in South America docked at the Yangkou Port PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiving Station in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province on June 26. The ship began its journey on May 31 with a load of 64,700 LNG.

It is the first LNG container ship from South America to stop at the Yangkou Port PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiveing Station. It is also the 36th LNG container to dock at the port this year.

The Yangkou Port PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiving Station started operating in May 2011 and is China's first LNG receiving station. It has a receiving capacity of 6.5 million tons and ranks first in China in terms of receiving frequency and capacity among LNG receiving stations.

Statistics show that the Yangkou Port PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiveing Station has received 2.63 million tons of LNG from 316 container ships over the past eight years. Over the same period, it supplied the country with 36.8 billion cubic meters of LNG, enough for more than 20 million households.

The third section of the Yangkou Port PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiveing Station is currently under construction. The port's receiving capacity is expected to increase to more than 10 million tons after the completion of the new section.
