Rugao welcomes summer harvest
The summer harvest season has arrived in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province. This year, the city planted about 650,000 mu (43,333 hectares) of wheat.
The sowing and maturity of wheat varies among different areas, said Wu Yimei, a senior agronomist at the city's agricultural technology promotion center.
Currently, most harvesting is being done in the western and southern towns, according to Wu.
This year, the city's wheat yield is about 352 kilograms per mu, about the same as the previous year.
