A walking event was held at the Nantong Botanical Garden on May 12 with the aim of promoting internet public welfare.

The event was organized by the city’s cyberspace affairs commission and the local Internet society. Nearly 400 people took part.

The internet public welfare initiative was proposed at the second World Internet Conference in Dec 2015. It encourages organizations and individuals to enhance public welfare via the Internet.

The initiative is believed to be effective in enhancing people's well-being, promoting the healthy development of the internet, and enabling everyone to benefit from the internet’s development.

Nantong held more than 100 activities to promote the initiative in 2018, encouraging people to participate in the cause, strengthening information disclosure and integrate forces from all walks of life to promote public welfare.
