Qidong prints exhibited in Taiwan

An exhibition of prints in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, opened at the Taiwan Academy of Art on May 2.
Sponsored by the Taiwan Fuxiu Culture and Art Foundation and the Taiwan Academy of Arts, the exhibition was held by the International Prints Center at Taiwan Normal University.
All the prints displayed during the event were works collected by the Qidong Prints Institute.
More than 50 artists came to visit the exhibition, including Liao Xiuping, dean of the Taiwan Academy of Arts; Zhong Youhui, a renowned printmaking artist; Shen Jinyuan, president of the Taiwan Printmaking Society, and other artists from Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.
Yu Jinbiao, director of the Qidong Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television and Tourism; Zhu Jianhui, dean of the Qidong Prints Institute, and Zhang Shuixiong, the institute’s vide-dean, met with and welcomed the visiting guests.
The prints in Qidong were highly commended by the artists in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.
The history of Qidong prints goes back to 60 years ago. Because of their unique characteristics, Qidong prints have been exhibited in more than 20 countries across Asia, Europe and America.
The exhibition will last until May 16.
