Expectations are running high, as a second tulip expo makes its final preparations for its grand opening at the Yuantuojiao Tourist Resort in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, in East China’s Jiangsu province, on March 23.

A total of 1.2 million tulip plants, of more than 30 varieties, will cover an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters.

The flowers were imported from the Netherlands and will keep in bloom for a month.

A wide range of activities, including a food festival, a kite exhibition, as well as photography and painting contests, will also be held during the expo to attract visitors.

The event proved a great success last year, attracting some 600,000 tourists.
