Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, kicked off construction on 40 investment projects at a ceremony held at the construction site of a major pharmacy project on Feb 13. 

The 40 projects drew total investment of 16.3 billion yuan ($2.41 billion), covering the fields of biological medicine, new materials, equipment manufacturing, and modern services. 

Of the projects, nine boast an investment value surpassing 1 billion yuan.

Wang Xioabin, Party secretary of Qidong, Ge Zhijuan, mayor of Qidong, and other officials attended the ceremony and launched the projects.
