The Civil Aviation Engineering Consulting Company of China held an evaluation conference to discuss where to construct a new airport in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, from Jan 28 to 30.

Government officials, academics and representatives from design institutes attended the event and held discussions on several of the proposals.

Some of the academics present at the event suggested that the city needs a new airport to boost coordinated regional development in the Yangtze River Delta.

Nantong was given permission to become a national logistics hub by the country’s transportation authority on Dec 24, 2018.

The construction of a new airport will be a significant step in building a comprehensive transportation system for the logistics industry, combining railways, highways and air transportation services.
