Construction continues on Shanghai-Nantong Bridge

A steel section is installed on the No 28 pier of the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge on Jan 18. The bridge spans 11 kilometers and consists of four railway lines and six expressway lanes. The main section of the bridge is 1,092 meters long –– a world record for a cable-stayed railway-expressway bridge. [Photo by Ding Xiaochun/zgnt.net]

A section of the bridge is hoisted into place as a ship sails past, on Jan 18. The bridge links Zhangjiagang and Nantong and will help reduce travel times between the two cities to around one hour after it is completed in 2020. [Photo by Ding Xiaochun/zgnt.net]
