Qidong sets ambitious tree planting goal in 2019
Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, plans to reforest an area of 7,000 mu (467 hectares) in 2019, according to a recent notice released by the local government.
In recent years, Qidong has committed itself to restoring the environment by planting trees. The percentage of forest cover in the city is rated as one of the highest among counties and county-level cities in Nantong.
According to the notice, Qidong will begin building forest parks, a recreational path over five kilometers long and a demonstration village.
