Jiangsu College of Engineering and Technology signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Thai Chamber of Commerce at the China-ASEAN Celebrating New Year &Enhancing Cooperation Activity in Beijing on Jan 17.

In recent years, the Nantong-based school has established ties with many educational institutes in ASEAN countries, including Laos, Cambodia, Burma and Malaysia. In addition, it has helped train a huge pool of skilled workers to international standards.

ASEAN countries are also popular destinations for investment from Nantong businesspeople, as well as for forming business partnerships.

The cooperation agreement represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Nantong and ASEAN, said Shan Xiaoming, executive vice-mayor of Nantong, at the meeting.

She expressed her hopes that ASEAN countries form more partnerships with the city, particularly in areas such as technology R&D, industrial investment, information sharing, and the training of skilled workers.
