Nantong heritage inheritor teaches children palm leaf weaving

Ma Yihua, an inheritor of Nantong’s intangible cultural heritage, has been invited to Tongxing Kindergarten, Gangzha district, Nantong, to teach children palm leaf weaving from Nov 26 to Dec 7.

During an activity on Nov 26, Ma taught children how to weave a vivid grasshopper with a few palm leaves, a pair of scissors and a needle. Apart from a grasshopper, children learned to make other nine works during the activity, such as a rose, locust, dragonfly, butterfly and diamond bracelet.

It is a part of the public welfare project hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Women's Federation. A total of 85 kindergarten children took part in the activity on Nov 26.
