Nantong forum explores ways to boost digital economy

The Big Data and the Real Economy Deep Integration Conference was held in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province on Nov 14. 

Jointly hosted by the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu province and the Nantong municipal people’s government, the conference invited officials of provincial and municipal industry and information departments, experts and scholars in the domestic big data field as well as representatives from big data enterprises.

The attendees discussed the integration and development of the digital economy and real economy and how to improve China’s big data strategy and further promote China’s digital development. 

Wang Xinzhe, the chief economist of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said at the conference that the ministry will strengthen the research of core technology and beef up the construction of information infrastructures and the development of intelligent manufacturing, in order to deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and provide support to China’s sound development of the big data industry.

Wang said that Jiangsu province, as well as Nantong, can leverage their advantages to explore practical ways towards big data development. The MIIT will provide continuous support for them, to promote the integration and innovation of the new generation of information technology. 

Nantong is making efforts to boost data resources integration and application development, with the aim of speeding up the digital transformation of manufacturing, according to Xu Huimin, the deputy Party secretary of Nantong. 

As the industrial base of big data development, Nantong International Data Center Industrial Park has attracted more than 50 big data enterprises so far, including Alibaba and DHGP Big Data. It has been named the national demonstration park for real-time data by MIIT this year. 

In addition, Nantong has signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu, the Department of Transportation of Jiangsu and Jiangsu Commission of Health to further develop the city’s big data industry. 

The “Jianghai Cup” big data integration innovation and application competition, jointly organized by the three departments and Nantong government, was launched during the conference. 

Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee signed project investment agreements with several big data enterprises, such as 360 Enterprise Security Group during the conference.
