Nantong University in Nantong, Jiangsu province held the opening ceremony of Zhangjian School, on September 28, with 30 out of 243 students from five engineering colleges, including the colleges of mechanical engineering, electronic information and electrical engineering beoming the first students.  

Zhangjian School, named after the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) Chinese industrialist and educator in Nantong, advocates "saving the country by industry".

Against the background of the "Made-in-China 2025 Strategy", the Zhangjian School will focus on training innovative talents in the spirit of craftsmanship in the field of intelligent manufacturing, said Jing Jianping, the first dean of the college.

The nameplate of Nantong University's Alibaba Cloud Big Data College was unveiled in Gangzha district in Nantong, with 60 freshmen attending the ceremony, on September 29.

Alibaba Cloud Big Data College is jointly established by Nantong University, the people's government of Gangzha district, Alibaba Cloud Computing Co and Qingdao IT Training Education Science and Technology Co.

Based on the College of Computer Science and Technology of Nantong University, the college will carry out the "2.5 + 1.5" teaching mode, which means the college will provide basic theory lessons in the first 2.5 years, and offer core courses and practice in enterprises in the second 1.5 years.

The practical teaching base is located in Gangzha district.
