Located between Junshan Mountain and Jianshan Mountain, the Jianghai Folk Culture Museum is north of the Yonghong River, east of Xingang Old Town, and west of the Pengxin Guesthouse. The planning area is about 90 hectares with total investment of about 2 billion yuan ($ 302.9 million). The project is divided into east and west areas by Gongnong Road.
Taking folk culture and ecological leisure as its functional orientation, the west area of Jianghai Folk Culture Museum introduces some industrial projects such as farming culture, cultural shows, cultural creativity and leisure tourism.
The first phase of the project covers an area of about 25.33 hectares. Projects have been built here, such as intangible cultural heritage workshops, a farmhouse, an art exhibition center, an art academy, an open-air auto cinema, the Jiangsu self-driving tour base, an equestrian club and an ancient stage. The art exhibition center has successfully launched several famous painting and calligraphy exhibitions. The workshop attracted 18 national, provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage protection projects and outstanding folk art projects, including the Nantong intangible cultural heritage protection research center and the Meian Guqin art and Nantong blue calico presentation, and has also carried out inheritance and marketing of these projects.
The second phase of the project covers an area of about 35 hectares. It implements green projects in mountain village and fields, and has built bamboo plantations of 20,000 square meters and flower borders of 30,000 square meters. It has also planted persimmon, loquat and pomegranate orchards of 26.67 hectares. At the same time, it has constructed an artistic creation practice base in cooperation with the Chinese Artists Association, the China Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Nanjing Arts Institute. In addition, it has established personal art museums (studios) with Fan Yang, Yuan Yunfu, Lv Junjie and other art masters in order to build an artists' village.
