Public reading activities prevails in Nantong
Chongchuan district, in Nantong, Jiangsu province held various activities to celebrate World Book Day and to encourage public reading.
Locals of Guangming community in Chongchuan district drew characters on an 11-meter-long paper scroll to call for self-discipline by civil servants on April 20.
Hongxi community held a "Mini Reading Marathon" at Hongqiao Primary School. Forty-eight 48 students completed the "race" and won "reading marathon" winner certificates on April 2.
Xutian street distributed books to children of migrant workers on April 22.
Langshan town street called for children to read the classics, and brought together children of both Han and ethnic minorities to read and share ideas on April 21.
Chongchuan district has achieved success in promoting public reading with locals who have reading habits accounting for 90.4 percent of the total population, according to official statistics.
